CHEMDAWG STRAIN Indica Dominant Hybrid – 55% Indica / 45% Sativa THC: 19% With a near-even balance…
With a near-even balance between sativa and indica (sativa/indica ratio of 45/55), Chemdawg Strain, also known as Chemdog, delivers on both fronts. A clear cerebral high drives creativity while a stony, sleepy body high fights insomnia and relaxes the muscles. This strain has THC levels up to 19%, meaning it’s more potent than most. It has a powerful spicy, plant-like taste and smell with a hint of diesel; the aroma alone can alert snoopy neighbors to even a carefully concealed pot grow.
Not surprisingly, Chemdawg is used to produce Sour Diesel, one of the world’s most popular strains. Best for anxiety and pain, this strain is also helpful with depression and ADHD, as well as migraines, arthritis, and PMS. Dry mouth and dry eyes are possible when using this strain, while other side effects are less likely. Chemdawg is most popular on the West Coast, in Nevada, and in Colorado. It’s possible to find on the black market but doesn’t come around very often.
Chemdog, or Chemdawg, was created in the early 1990s in the parking lot of a Grateful Dead concert. Dead concerts had a reputation for being trade centers for cannabis cultivars, and during this particular show, a breeder named Chem purchased an ounce of Dogbud from fellow growers P-Bud and Joe Brand.
The flower — which supposedly originated along the California-Oregon border — tasted so strongly of chemicals that Joe Brand nicknamed it Chem. Chem (the breeder) combined the two names, and Chemdog was the result. Following the Grateful Dead tour, Chem popped Chemdog the seeds and created three phenotypes. The most famous was Chem 91, which became an instant success and served as the parent strain for some of the most popular. Indoor growers can expect flowering within 65-to- 70 days. Seeds produce medium-sized plants with thin, fan leaves and spicy, green, fluffy buds. Chemdawg does best when grown outdoors in a dry, sunny Mediterranean climate.
